Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Soloist vs. Streetfire

Cervelo Soloist Team vs. BMC Streetfire

I am looking for some opinions on these frames. Gave them both a quick ride around the block and was very pleased. I am sure I'll be happy with either frame, I'm just having trouble between the two.

i'm very happy with my soloist team. only two complaints: the seatpost saddle clamp is a pain to use, and theres no barrel adjuster for the front dr. minor complaints and after 6 months my only complaints.

Soloist.... here's mine with two diff. sets of wheels.

While the seatpost is a little annoying, I do enjoy the innovation and options it provides. I upgraded to dura-ace front and rear and a deda elementi newton stem.

I like the soloist. It's a cool bike. Wanted the carbon, but over my OCP price range.

I'm very happy with my Soloist Carbon. Test ride 2-3 times, it's the only way to be sure...

the Streetfire frameset retails for about $725. Isn't the Soloist much more than that?

EDIT
: I found it: $1200 at.....
https://www.competitivecyclist.com/z...RODUCT.ID=1947

Therefore, is the price difference a consideration for you?

I have had my Soloist for about a month, upgraded wheels to Ksyrium SL's, and the bike is AWESOME.

Soloist - pure speed.
Streetfire - ''originality'' and bling points.

Where do you see so many BMC's? I hear you say that they are in masses, I heard another forum member say that he always passes them on the road.

I never see them on the road, I have seen BMC bikes at a few races, however I see just as many Treks, Cervelo's. When I am riding around town here in Az, I never see BMC bikes on the road! Why ????

I looked at the Streetfire when I was upgrading frames.. it was at the top of my list until I found out it didn't have carbon seat stays. It's a great looking frame tho.

If you're going to spend in that price range, you should seriously take a look at the Blue RC4. It can be bought online for just around $1000.00 (I actually found it cheaper than that) and is a carbon/aluminum lugged frame. I've only had mine a short time but I am impressed with the frame manufactuering quality and the thing rides sweet.

At the Soloist price range, try the BMC Road Racer.
