Colorado Vacation
I'm trying to plan a 4 day trip out to Colorado to check the state out because I'm thinking about moving out there, unfortunately 4 days is all I have, I was planning on getting there Friday morning and leave Monday night. I was planning on visiting the Denver area, Boulder, and perhaps a few other places, if anyone has suggestions of other places to check out I'd appreciate it. I'm planning on going there during the first week of September and figured I may be able to get some racing in as well while I'm out there, I do road, TT, mtb, and cyclocross however very few races seem to be listed on bikereg, is there another place that lists races out in Colorado area? Perhaps a group ride as well? Also, can anyone recommend any good/cheap hotels or camp grounds in that area that I could stay in? I'm a huge fan of camping so if I can do that instead of staying in a hotel then I'd be thrilled but whatever gets the job done.
Thanks

Be sure to check out the Boulder area, there's lots of good road riding. I don't think there are any races that week. There's the Longmont crit on August 27th, and the Gore Pass RR on September 9th.
Here's the Colorado schedule https://www.americancycling.org/racin...dule072506.htm

I'm going out there the second week of Sept. I'm doing the Ride the buffalo century on the tenth. I'm moving to Denver in the Fall. My wife is already out there working.

There are lots of classic rides you can do on your own as well. In the Boulder area I think my favorite ride is climbing Left Hand Canyon and returning via Lyons.

Boulder is great - having grown up there, but I'd also look at Denver, Wheatridge, Lakewood, and all point West of 1-25 towards the mountains. Denver has an extensive bike path system that goes everywhere. One of my favorite rides is up Deer Creek Canyon. You'll find it off of Wadsworth near Chatfield Res. (south west) There are also camp sites at the lake, it's a beautiful place. And there are always the camp sites in the foothills around Denver. Remember that most sites get reserved, so you'll need to contact the local park service or find a camp ground that is first come first server. The weekends can be very busy.
Check out www.rmccrides.com/ Rocky Mountain Cycling Club - they do two rides every weekend at different locations. They are a great group and have some great rides.
Good luck.

Two summer ago, my family and I spent a week in Estes Park (up the "hill" from Boulder). I had a great time riding up there. We were there in mid-August and the weather was still good. I understand it starts getting cold there early but maybe the first week of September will still be OK.
Didn't catch any races or group rides while I was there.
