Holy $h!t I love my new bike
I've been riding an old Specialized Allez for a couple of years now, it weighs in around 24 pounds and has a ghetto-rigged bar-end aero shifting system with 105 components. Not a bad bike but it was frustrating to ride with the big dogs and not be able to hang on the long rides. I just got a new job and some extra cash so naturally I headed to ebay and searched. I managed to find a Tarmac with Record and a custom paint job for about three grand...
I finally got it out on the road today and I couldn't believe what I was riding. For the first time I actually got out for a couple of successful breakaways and my back wasn't breaking from all the vibration. I still need to get a computer on it but it was definitely faster than my old bike. I'm leaving for a week in the Canadian wilderness in a couple days and I can't wait for all the climbing I'm going to do there... I'm gunning for about 300 miles in the week.

You'll be faster for a week or two, then your body will become accustomed to the lower weight of the new bike, and your fitness will deteriorate to compensate.
Well it worked that way for me at least.
