What do I need to convert 7 speed downtube shifters to bar end or handle bar
I have a Trek 2300 carbon that I am weighing different options
I am going to go carbon fork-- havent decided thread or threadless
now this bike has downtube shifters
what would be involved in converting to handlebar or tri bar shifters?
regards from Iowa

If you're buying new stuff, just the shifters. They'll come with cable stops that bolt on in place of your down tube shifters.

Also you'll need a normal length rear inner cable and a TANDEM rear inner cable. It turns out that unless you have a pretty small bike with a short stem, the normal inner cables are too short.
You can wrap the bar end cables completely under the handlebar tape so that they come out like Ergo cables or you can run then out of the bottoms of a couple of bar tape wrap so that it looks really dorky. Both ways use longer than normal amounts of cable but the dorky way can usually use a 'normal' rear length unless you have a tall bike.
