Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Helmet Hair

I have long hair on the top of my head. Do any serious cyclist have long hair? It kind of defeats the purpose of have all those vents on my giros atomos helmet. Just looking for some thoughts on the subject. I really don't feel too much like shaving my head at this point in my life, any one else been here?

Thanks

Used this for 3 years now....looks weird, but I've saved thousands of dollars and can keep my hair how I like it at my convenience.

I have hair almost to my shoulders now, so all I do is throw it back, put on a cycling cap and ride.

To the OP - Get your hair cut. Unless you have an image to uphold (not sure what that would be), it just gets in the way.

I don't know. There is a large percentage of Euro-mullets in the pro peloton. It's still 'business in the front, party in the back' for the most part. But the Euro-mullet features a bit of party in the front, and the party in the back is way more sophisticated.

I think this look was invented by Ekimov, but I can't be sure.

We specialize in repairing bad hair cuts, especially the do-it-yourselfers, including ones that had been flow-bee'd as well. No, I don't cut hair.

Can't you just comb your hair with the multi-tool?

lol, I do the same thing.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to get a permanent "helmet head" as my hair is starting to "flow" in the shape of the inside of my helmet. Even after a shampoo you can see the pattern of the helmet pads, which appears as a sort of reverse mohawk down the middle of my scalp.

No one's commented on it though.

yet.

I used to have bad helmet hair even in the days of crew cuts. Now I use a coolmax bandana/thingy and it works a treat in keeping my hair under control and its good at stoping the sweat dripping in my eyes. A good thing about the cap is that you can take your helmet off but leave the cap on when having your esspresso.

Regards, Anthony

Look at the bright side, you don't have to cope with the dreaded helmet vent tan spots!
