Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Frame

Has anyone here bought and built up one of these frames from Chucks Bikes???

https://www.chucksbikes.com/store/fr059.htm

If so how do you like it and what did you build it up with parts wise?

I bought the A-4, hope to build it up this month as I've finally collected all the parts. For the money you're looking to spend though, I would definitely check out the Flyte frames on ebay. Buy it now is at around $179. You can spend a little more and get a frame built this year that looks a ton better, and is probably way lighter and better built. All that being said, Chuck was great to work with. I've hear from others who have enjoyed their Author build. The A-1, as I understand it, is supposed to have better/lighter tubing than the A-1. If it was my $115 though and I needed a 58cm (no clearance), I would definitely find another $34 or so and go Flyte!

Congrats on the build!!! Yeah, I've had my frame for a while to. I'm happy with it, though it does seem that the great deals come out AFTER we make our purchcases. When my project is complete I'll post some pics. I scoured ebay and other sources for about a year, and wound up with basically all new components, but at way below retail (and often wholesale ) Oh well, enjoy the ride!

Best Wishes
