Question about Ultegra Triple

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Question about Ultegra Triple

NEWBIE HERE

I just got my new bike in and assembled on yesterday. On the advice of people here I carried it to my LBS and had it tuned up and checked. I did an initial 15 miler Saturday and a 21 miler this morning. It is a 30 Speed Full Ultegra and I am used to a 27 speed MTB. I noticed that when you are on the big ring and you wish to shift down to the middle ring, you have to click the small lever twice. You only click it once to go from the middle to the small chainring. Is this normal? My MTB Bike didn't work that way.

Ultegra triples allow for a "trim" adjustment which is basically a small adjustment allowing the derailleur to move slightly to discourage chain rub.

I think if you push it farther, it will go with one push. The short push is for the trim adjustment.

Yep...exactly. You can half click it to give a minor adjustment to get rid of chain rub when the chain might be crossed up a bit.
