Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's definitely not a weight weenie bike. The frame is a 51cm Dedacciai Zero Tre. The bare frame is about 4# even. The fork is has a steel steerer and weighs about 475gr. The bike weighs about 17.5-18 pounds. I love the ride though.

I had Luiqigas bibs once, back in college. Actually they were Pearl Izumi's, the Luiqigas part was an unintentional modification on my part after a mid-ride break at Pancheros for a Burrito. Sure made me ride faster, though

I love this paint scheme. I've had it about a year. Anyone have any idea what year it is? I've only seen one other one like it and the owner had no idea of the age either.

I just bought a Bianchi 928 lugged frame. I happen to like the color scheme. I'll have to post pics when I get it. The seat stays and a portion of the top tub are celeste, the rest is black and white. I think it looks good. I also have in my possesion my dad's 1986 Bianchi Campione d' Italia. This was my first exposure to european bikes, and yes it's celeste.

I'm just about finished changing this Reparto Course into a single speed. Eric's eccentric hub laced to a 32 hole mavic rim with 17 tooth free hub.

I really love Celeste, but in case you guys didn't know, it's practically the same color as Tiffany Blue. You know, Tiffany, as in Tiffany and Company.

You know I just ordered a Bianchi so obviously like em.
But not sure about the Celeste color.
At first I was in the "HELL NO" camp
Now its grown on me significantly, but don't want all Celeste bike.... as Tony Sinclaire would say "In Moderation"

When I was in high school a good friend of mine got a bianchi stelvio with campy stuff on it. Ever since then, when I think of bianchi, I think of that stelvio and its ultra smooth ride. It was gunmetal grey just like the one above.
During my recent road bike shopping, I had one hell of a time passing on this Via Nirone Ultegra double. I like celeste quite a bit, but to me they always look better in this gunmetal color but with celeste trim...what a beauty.

Ooh, no, no, I disagree: The Bianchi experience isn't complete *unless* you have the celeste saddle & bar tape. Even those black carbon forks bother me. It's gotta be all or nothing!

(Though I agree, pedals would be overdoing it. Does anyone actually make celeste pedals?)

What the heck is this love affair with Bianchi's. They never were really top tier bikes, compared to other Italian manufacturers. (and I owned a Bianch in the early 70's) I think it's because they're Italian, and they were very exotic when they were the only Italian bikes widely distributed in the U.S. in the first bike boom, and to a dgree they have held on to some of that cache.

I don't mean to diss Bianchi as a brand, or any particular Bianchi bike. I'm sure there are some very good Bianchis. But I gotta think the Italians have to chuckle at the reverence in which some Americans hold Bianchi's.

I think you have a point in there....but here's kinda my take.
Yes they may be the trek of italy, but no doubt they know how to make great bikes.
And because they are so old and huge, they have massive leverage on their suppliers. as a result, imho, I think you can get big bang for your buck buying complete bike from them. (I know the same can be said about other brands too)
and finally....you need to drink the Bianchi Koolade to get the intagibles :-)

I haven't had the pleasure myself, but tell him that I was mesmerized after I read his book.

I follow up on his accomplishments via his website, he's been an inspiration.
