Specialized make a hand pump that is used for pressurizing forks or pumping up tires. It has dual pistons and is good to 250 PSI. She can pump to 80 or 90 PSI easily on the big piston and then switch to the high pressure piston. 120 is a snap with the pump for any woman.

120 psi is way too much for that skinny wife's tires unless she's riding a 70lb bike.

EDIT...curse you propagandrew!!
Tell her to stand over the pump and use her whole body weight to force the handle down.

Nah. I'm 5'9", weigh 135 pounds and I pump to 120 psi just fine on a $19.99 Blackburn pump from the Sports Authority. I don't work out. My upper body strength is probably below-average (it's all below the waist!). But if you use your weight properly, it should not be a problem.

Why don't you take some photos of her pumping up her tires, post the photos, and we'll have some fun critiquing her tire pumping form.

125 pound male here. I use a Serfas FP50. It's got a skinny little barrel but I can take it to 120 and above without a problem.

Hence, Silca Track Pump. Relatively small barrel, and it will let her get the pressure as high as she could possibly need.
Besides, the Silca Pump will last for a lifetime, and its made of COlumbus tubing so it has some cache (at least to he steel is real crowd).

Useless for anything other than 30 PSI mountain bike tires and pumping up basketballs.

Those foot pumps are horrible. They have a huge barrel which means that one would have to use incredible amounts of force to pump up a tire to road bike pressures. Also, the thin metal arms that attach the foot pedal to the pump WILL bend sideways.
Useless for anything other than 30 PSI mountain bike tires and pumping up basketballs.

You're nuts thinking the arms will bend. Only the really lousy POS one's from Wal-mart bend. They don't sell the high pressure pumps.
