Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking for LBS - Loudon County VA

Good morning,

I am scouting the area of Loudon county and around in a search for a LBS. I found few good stores - like Performance Bike in Gaithersburg, MD or the one on the main street in Leesburg, forgot the name - but it is all about new bikes and I am looking for up to 5 year old model in decent or semi decent shape.

Any ideas or recommendations are appreciated.

Down in Warrenton, I usually deal with the bike stop. It is one of the best shops I've ever dealt with, so I'd recommend giving them a call. They usually deal with new bikes, but call Curtis and see what he can do for you - 540.341.7702

The best way to find used bikes is via ebay or craigslist. I've found some decent bikes on the DC craigslist in the past, so I would highly recommend considering that route as well.

What's your price range?

Don't have one yet, just looking around. My ride is old Raleigh - not sure what year, it is from the Trash to Treasure in Warrenton landfill - of course I replaced tires and tuned it up and changed pedals, but one day I would like to replace it or better - retire it and use it on rainy days only.

+1 for the Craigslist suggestion. Good bikes come up with a fair bit of regularity. I got my colnago master x-lite through craigslist.
