Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Blue RC4 - Im Calling It Done

I posted some photos of this bike a while back but Ive been changing stuff around and the bike was more or less tossed together with spare parts in the last photos.

Since then, I've changed, upgraded, upgraded some more and I'm finally happy with the final product. Since I'm about to start on Project Pedal Force (Yea, Im back on the Pedal Force kick again), I'm going to declare the Blue completed and don't plan to change anything else on it. Here's the complete build up list:

Frame - Blue RC4 (Aluminum lugs, carbon tubes)
Groupset - Shimano Ultegra
Handlebars - Aerus C4 carbon road bars
Stem - Aerus C5SQ carbon stem
Seatpost - Some Performance Bike carbon seatpost (The one thing I didnt upgrade)
Saddle - Terry Fly TI
Pedals - Look KEO Carbon
Bottlecages - Elite Patao Magnesium cages
Wheels - Mavic Cosmic Elite
Computer - Garmin Edge 305
Tires - Michelin ProRace2 (Blue)

A few thoughts before the photos:

- Its pretty much impossible to lose a bottle out of the Elite cages. They really hold the bottles firmly. I dont even remove them when transporting the bike.

- While I really like the Look KEO Carbon pedals, I probably won't buy them again. I haven't had these pedals but about a month and they're already starting to show significant wear. At the rate they're going, I don't expect them to last a year. For a $200.00+ set of pedals, that's really not acceptable. Next time I'll opt for the metal version.

- The Aerus bars and stem are very underrated. I'm surprised more people here on the forums aren't using them. I searched both here and RoadBikeReview and other than some people asking "Has anyone used them?", I didn't get a single hit. The bars are very comfortable and have some nice flats for resting your hands.

Here's some photos of the finished product:

Next up is Project Pedal Force. More than likely going to be a Pedal Force Fusion with either a Campy Group or a SRAM group. I'm working with the Pedal Force people now to see what they can get for me.
