damocles1 -- Thanks for the ride report! I'm still waiting on parts. just curious, what size RS are you riding? My main concern about the PF fork is that I think 43mm rake is a little low for the slack 72.5deg headtube angle on the 55cm frame, my size. It works out to a trail of 60.2mm. One of my bikes has a trail of 59.2, and I already have to fight its tendency to climb out of fast hard turns. Are you riding a 58cm or above? Did you put the bike through any long hard sweepers? I'd be curious to hear your comments.

- the PF group buy has been a satisfying experience... hats off to PF for following up through the whole process, and from what i can tell, good customer service - they're getting my business in the future...
- i've already discovered some things i *don't* like about CF: seems like if you breathe the wrong way on the material you end up with a nasty scratch! (i'm hard on my bikes)
- finally, i hope you enjoyed the book... it was my former, pretty crazy life (averaged writing three books a year for seven years) - but the payoff has been the ability to do nothing except ride a bike and do fun project builds...
:-)

Mine is a 58cm. I think you'll be fine. 1cm difference isn't all that great. I'd say ride it for a while before deciding to get a new fork. If you like, great, you keep $ in your pocket.
The fork itself is as stiff, if not stiffer, than the Ouzo Pro that I had on my C'dale. God am I glad I sold that POS...
Build pics are 1 page back...(pg52, post #1277)
Ultegra 10 drivetrain
FSA SLK 175mm crankset
Cane Creek SCR-5 brakes
Thomson stem and post
Deda Newton deep bars
Flite Ti gel saddle
Quattro SL pedals
and...whatever wheels I decide to ride that day...

Nice build. Seems like just about everybody went with the Ritchey 4-Axis stem, but like you I picked the Thomson. Nothing against Ritchey, but I love every Thomson component I've ever had.

Just a quick question for those who have already ordered.
I ordered late 2/21 but did not receive an e-mail confirmation. Status on the web site says pending mid Feb. shipment dated 2/23. I haven't received any emails since the fork decal request at the beginning of Feb. I was just wondering if this is normal not to get any e-mail responses, although the web sites says I should get an immediate email response with my order. I'm wondering if my email provider is randomly blocking mail from PF?
Thanks for any responses.

You may have noticed in earlier on in this thread, a number of group buy members did not get an email when others did. Could be SPAM blocking, or something else for that matter. I'd suggest you email them, I always received a prompt response, usually the same day.

I kind of thought that was a possibility but I did receive other emails so I wasn't absolutely sure that was the case.
I just emailed them using an alternate email address using their "contact us" page. Hopefully I'll have more status that just "waiting for Mid Feb shipment". I did previously email them prior to my order but did not receive a response as well, hopefully a different email address will get me a response.
Thanks again.

Thanks,
My only concern was that I did not receive a confirmation e-mail although status was updated on the web page indicating "waiting for mid Feb. shipment". I only wish I had printed the order page detailing all the items I ordered.

Damocles1 or others that have assembled bike or maybe just know, what torque is allowed on front derailleur clamp? I completed my assembly yesterday morning, just need to tighten and final adjustments.
Thanks

I turn the bolt until it starts to feel snug and the part won't move and then give it about 1/4 turn more. It could probably be tightened even more, but I figure if it doesn't move or the clamp doesn't shift under load, it's tight enough. I'll check it later today when I go over the bike again.
Shimano clamps have a larger contact area than Campy clamps as well. I use Shimano clamps exclusively with braze-on derailleurs.

Ride it like you stole it
If you have a torque wrench, it is a good thing to use it. I have found that it is easier to get things properly fitted with it. Here are some specs.
- Brifter bolt = 6-8 Nm (52-69 in lbs)
- Brake bolts = 8-10 Nm (69-97 in lbs)
- Brake shoes = 1-1.5 Nm (9-13 in lbs)
- FD cable clamp bolt = 5-7 Nm (44-60 in lbs)
- FD clamp bolt = 5-7 Nm (44-60 in lbs)
- Cassette lock ring = 30-50 Nm (261-434 in lbs)
- RD pivot bolt = 8-10 Nm (69-97 in lbs)
- RD cable clamp bolt = 5-7 Nm (44-60 in lbs)
- External Bottom Bracket cups = 35 - 50 N·m (305 - 435 in lbs)

OK all done...
First impressions...A Shimano bike is easier to build than a Campagnolo bike...(or maybe I am just used to Shimano)...
Weight...15 lbs 11 oz (15.7) with pedals, two cages and Garmin sensor and mount...
Pics later in the day...
I will give a ride report later as well...after my ride on the rollers...First outside ride is about a month away...
Edit...Whats all this I am hearing about trail...On my toy bike (53cm) with a head tube angle of 72* and the Easton SLx fork I come out with 65mm of trail...Now I am worried I won't be able to turn this thing...

Are you sure its 6.5cm? By my measurements I get 6.4cm. It really wont make much difference. If you insist on less trail, to make the bike steer faster, then you could go with a fork that has more offset. Just moving to a 4.5 cm offset fork will reduce the trail to 6.2 centimeters. As an example lets say you will buy a Cannondale Synapse Carbon, in a 53 cm frame their advertised trail is 6.0 and it increases to 6.9 by the time you get to 47 cm. Please note that trail works in conjunction with wheelbase to determine its full effects. So as frames get smaller the trail should increase to keep the handling nearly the same between models.

Now at 260, you may be asking a lot...
Ride it first before you dump it. If it's flexy or un-nerves you, then buy something else. Maybe an Ouzo Pro Aero...

damocles1 +1, I think what JayC actually feels is flex in the wheels. The Ksyrium Elites although stiff radially are notoriously flexible laterally. I would be more scared of those wheels than the ID14 fork. The only thing I have against the fork is that it was not designed for use with this frame. the ADK was designed and speced for a fork with a crown height if 365mm and the ID14 is clearly 370mm, I know I measured it.
