Hard Hit
I just wanted to thank the folks at Bikesdirect. Recently I purchased a Motobecane Immortal Force and had it assembled by a LBS. The first few hundreds miles were problem free until I hit a small pot hole and the fork failed. I want to stress that it was not a crazy hard hit or a crazy big hole. I've had similar hits on previous bikes and the worst that happened is I almost had my hands come of the bars.
On the moto the fork failed and here is the result.

Ouch dude. I hope it looks worse than it is. Heal up soon and get a better fork. Was it a steel, aluminum or carbon fork?

Sorry man, What does BD have to say? It seems a little unfair to post this this way.

Man, that looks painful. I hope you heal quickly. Tell us what BD had to say about the failure.

Well, somewhat tongue in cheek, it's obvious. Your LBS mechanic, enraged at your temerity and unmitigated gall for buying a bike online...installed your fork using the common "I hate online bike-store-killing shoppers" hacksaw method. Plainly, your complaint lies with him. In future, assemble all online purchases yourself. Avoid the middleman. Faceplant all by yourself.

Ride it like you stole it
Although the accident is nothing to sneer at, and I hope DD recovers. To blame a bike for hitting a pothole and having the fork break is a stretch. Then to admit that he hits potholes regularly. I'm not sure, but maybe he has a death wish. We shall see if he ends up with more than this single post.
I think I will get some pie.

As much as I dislike Bikes Direct.
As much as I hate Bikes Direct we need a bit more than this one time post from a one time poster before breaking out the "BD=Face Plant" banners.
