Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scott CR-1 owners: how do you like your bike?

My current CF ride is a Cannondale Six13. Love it. Took a Scott CR-1 for a short spin the other day. It's about 9 oz. + lighter and actually felt fairly similar. The Scott rep said the BB stiffness is about the same as a Six13. Very impressive bike. Hard to tell from a ten minute test ride. Felt more responsive than the Trek CF frame I rode last year however.

Anybody have this bike here? What's the word? Anybody here have experience with a CR-1 vs. the Six13? Thanks in advance for any responses.

I ripped out a Scott CR1 ad from VeloNews or something. It's taped on my wall next to my pillow. A seriously sharp-looking bike if I ever saw one.

I'm considering both those bikes as well. There are some awesome deals on the Scotts. Nevertheless, I decided to go forward with the Six13.

I wonder why Cannondale gives a lifetime warranty and Scott doesn't. Something tells me the Cannondale will last longer, but I might be crazy.

While I don't have a LOT more experience on the SL than you got patent, probably 30 minute ride for me, it was enough for me to seriously consider more bike than I have any need for. It was also enough of a impression that I did buy the CR1 Pro, which has a 100 gram heavier frame, Ultegra and Elites. I have enjoyed every moment on the bike to date and don't regret not getting the SL cause I couldn't justify the difference in price and performance at this stage in riding. Now seems to be a really good time to get on one though. I paid $900 less than MSRP for the Pro and they have the SL priced at $3700 and would probably be able to move a little more on it, but it would have still been somewhere between $1200-1500 more than the Pro.

I have a CR1 Pro and have owned it for about a year and a half. Recently I considered selling it and buying a Six13, not because I don't like my CR1 but just to try something different. After riding the Six13 I couldn't find enough differences between the bikes to justify the change. I love them both. If something happened to my Scott I would probably buy a Six13 but I won't just sell one the other.

I bought the 100g heavier fork version also.
I picked it up at 9pm, and did a 200k brevet the following morning at 7.
Bike is awesome, fast, and comfy

And it looks great.

Non replaceable drop outs, but if you bend a dropout thats that strong, your bike probably toast form whatever accident caused it anyways.

I have one really really like it. I also have an IF steel/carbon and a Serotta Ti/Carbon and the CR1 is much stiffer and obviously much lighter. It may not absorb the bumps as well as the Crown Jewel or Legend ST, but it's better for climbing and cornering. I've never ridden a Cannondale before but I know that the Six13 has gotten some good reviews.

My CR1 has zero gravity brakes and heavy duty SL wheels and only weights 15.5 lbs. After about 5,000 miles, it is still strong and stiff as ever. I highly recommend it (or the new Addict).

Did you do this on the original Selle Italia SLR XP saddle? I would have to say that is my only drawback with the bike, it is too narrow for me.

And here's a shot of mine as well...

My initial impressions are that the two bikes are quite similar in many respects. The CR1 is considerably lighter (at this level 9+ oz. is significant), but the Six13 might offer a livelier overall feel thanks to the aluminum rear triangle. Similar BB rigidity for climbing/sprinting. I was impressed with the Scott. My next bike will probably be another Cannondale or a Scott. But I doubt I'd do much until Dura Ace overhauls the group one more time. I would be surprised if we didn't see 11+ speed D.A. within a couple of seasons. They have to do something to get us to spend our money on ths ELS (Expensive Lightweight ****).

What I really need is a new motor. Something under 40 yrs. old with more horsepower.

No, the original saddle remained in the store. I use an alliente on my other bike, so the store owner swapped the slr with a new alliente he had in stock. I figured my butt has 15,000 km used to that style, it wouldnt know that tomorrow was a new one

Since my time atac pedals just wouldnt look ocp enough on my new shiney cr1, i also bought ultegra pedals, which require different cleats. So in addition to a brand new bike, with a brand new saddle, i set out on my 200 k with brand new shoes. Northwave Revenge. Highly recomend these for comfort 200 k and my feet were fine.
