Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Manufacturers' Websites -- Deleting Data, Incomplete Data -- GRRRR

What is it with manufacturers and their websites? Why do they make the last model year's model data so difficult -- or impossible -- to find? Everyone is rolling out their 2007 models. Last week you could get on Specialized.com and find information on both 2006 and 2007 models. Today it's just 2007s. Trekbikes.com isn't a whole lot better, but with some tenacious googling, you can find some data (less than for current models, or for when past years were current) on past models. I realize that they're trying to sell the new stuff, but for the love of Pete and in the name of dealer support you'd think they'd see the benefit of data for at least the last two years and possibly three. And Specialized is even worse. Even for current models, you can't get all the data on a sub-model which is not the top of its class. Example, if you're interested in the Sequoia, you're SOL. You can only find specs related to the Sequoia Elite. This is maddening. My LBS was having a blowout sale on 2006s today. I went and rode an Allez Sport and a Sequoia. When I returned to the office and wanted to lookup some details that I failed to check, I found zilch, nada, squat in the way of data about 2006 models. I realize that internet sales are verbotten, but the manufacturers can only improve sales by giving lots of easily accessible information on their websites to drive dealer sales.

I love bikes, but I'm hatin bike makers. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Am I missing something? The 2006 sequoia. You need to hit 2007, then hit archive.

I am going to have to disagree with the manufacturers you listed as they are actually some of the better ones when it comes to keeping info on older models available. As far as Specialized all you have to do is what Vertr said and as far as the specs for they are there for all models. Here is the link for the Sequoia you were speaking of, https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkM...keTab=techspec

No, it was I who was missing something. I never saw the "archive" link on Specialized's site.

As for Trek, you can find some details on past years, but not any of the geometry -- at least not that I can find.
