Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Actually that's Davis Phinney, unless I missed a joke somewhere...

Notice the alignment of the front wheel to the chain ring on that Huffy/Serotta

I've finally got a picture of myself on my bike I'm proud to show... not cuz i'm that fast, or cuz i had what would be considered a great finish, but because this was my first tri, and i just look damn good in my aero bars :-) (Westchester Tri 2006)

Here's one of me from a couple of weeks ago at the top of Old LaHonda road. I improved on my previous best time by more than a minute - despite stopping three times to retighten my crankarm.

Man ... I don't have anything as nice as most of you guys/gals! I'm usually too busy riding and don't have good opportunities to obtain good pics of myself.

The best I have ... from the 2006 Hilly Hundred near Bloomington, IN:

This was taken in October, right before the wet season began. Can you see the Danish bag tied to my bar?

If those were available in the States, I'd get one in a hot minute.

Can't think of many things that'd make me prouder as a dad. My 3-year old daughter has the small 12" wheel bike with disney characters and matching pink helmet, elbow and knee pads, and loves to tell me how "cool" I look in my team's kit, and about how when she's bigger, how we'll go ride our bikes together. I can't WAIT! As my 10-month old son gets older, I plan on introducing him to BMX racing, MTB'ing, road riding, or whatever form of cycling he prefers. If he's anything like his old man, he'll prefer bikes over everything else under the sun from the moment he learns to ride to the present day.
