Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My 2000 R300. This is right after I installed a carbon fiber fork. The old cro-moly fork is a boat anchor. Next up, new wheels.

How about a "show a stock picture of your Cannondale off the Cannondale website" thread?

1988 Black Lightning, 53cm. all original parts. Hell, I think it had the original tires and tubes when I got it.
I just got it and have done a lot to clean it up, but it still needs a lot of touchup paint and I really need to do something about the cranks.

Some more pics at https://www.socalnets.com/CannondaleBlackLightning/

2roadies your bike is hott. I love that paint scheme. Question for you (or any other rider that gets shop deals): I overheard a guy on my LBS' team talking about dropping off a check for his CAAD9 frame set. $375?!?!? is that the kind of deal you guys are getting or is my LBS adding some cash to the pro deal from Cannondale?

Any particular reason you're running Record CT cranks with DA drivetrain, or is it just for the carbon bling factor to match the rest of your rig?

Yep -- I simply liked the looks of the Record Carbon Crank over anything else (with exception to a few cranks that were 3 to 5 times as much $$).

Thanks for the props on the bike, I'm really in love with it too!!! As for the deal I'm not at liberty to disclose the particulars about what our shop does for us. Lets just say the deal was very very sweet

That is a really good deal. The shop that sponsors the team I race for is one of the larger Cannondale dealers in southern California and for the club members who had to pay for their frames the pro deal was higher than that. There is another club in southern California that is also sponsored by Cannondale (Velo Club LaGrange) and they had their team prices on their website, I am pretty sure that their price on the Caad9 was also higher. Sometimes Cannondale will give a team X number of frames to be raced during the year. At the end of year those riders can either return the frame or keep them for a really good deal like you mentioned.

That's not true at all. I've seen half a dozen auctioned off on eBay and a few guys from weightweenies have them.
