Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2007 TCR Team with Pics

Finally got it. Spent the afternoon fitting, test riding, and cutting the seatpost (3 times). The pics are not OCP quality. (It was too dark to do the obligatory garage door). I'll make some actual photographs, but until then snapshots are below.

Ridden it about 20 miles now. And the overiding observation is that it is very stiff, in a good and a bad way. It rockets forward with no flex when you stand on it. Very responsive, and the handling is very crisp. However you feel every tar strip and paint line.

Comparing it to the Merlin. its way stiffer and quicker handling. However the Merlin is much more comfortable. So both have a place. Looking forward to doing fast training rides and races with the Giant. But the Merlin will remain the bike of choice for long rides.

That's f*&king hot. Love the graphics... very loud, yet understated. Does that make any sense???

She's a beauty. Race the hell out of her.

Very nice! Will be a excellent crit. bike.

+1 on the paint job, finally a Giant that doesn't look cheap (love the nude carbon)

BTW, If your Merlin gets jealous you can send her to me for some TLC.

I've read somewhere that ISP frames are not suited to smaller riders as the stiffness and the lower weight of the rider creates some traction and ride comfort issues, would you recommend this type of frame for a 70kg rider.

I have to admit that the official pics on Giant's website turned me off. For some reason the 'wrapped' downtube decal didn't sit right with me. But you may have turned me into a fan, because that bike looks seriously good. I'm loving the word 'Giant' on the top tube.

I have a 2003 team that has done me well and I have not been easy on it. I have been very happy with it as well as Giant as a company.

Nude Carbon is where it is AT!!!!

I'm 200 pounds plus, and it feels very stiff to me. I'm thinking its a very good crit bike for a bigger rider. At 70 kg, I'm sure it would still perform well (given that's the size of many of the T MObiel riders that ride it,) but it might not be tremendously comfortable.

Agree with Beef - the website does this bike no justice at all - that is Hot.

Love the colour and the lack of colour...

colleague in my office was wondering why I was saying "wow" to a picture of a yellow Porsche - which I had barely noticed!

Happy racing

On a completely different note...I have been thinking of getting an MR2....you like yours? Do you carry your bike with it?

Its a Porsche Boxster. Sligthly (sarcasm) different than the aforementioned MR2.

Nice bike.

They're both for metrosexual mean who wear yellow polo's and only care if the luggage area is large enough for a gold club bag.

As for the bike- it's pure sex. I want it... BADLY.

Love how you made the saddle swoop line up with your roof curve. Wonder how much of the harshness of the ride can be attributed to the wheels/tires/seatpost/fork. Obviously you won't be changing the seatpost. As you've stated, your bikes can fit appropriate niches, but my guess is that you'd like to have all the speed with more comfort. I'd be tempted to try a wheel swap 'just to see'.

Hot damn! I only just noticed the yellow Porsche in the background, after my third view of this thread. Seriously.

*smacks self* I've been spending way too much time on these boards.

I see the frame is a large...curious as to what the final measurement is that you used for the ISP. Somewhere from 75-80cm?

Also...what is your inseam?

God help us with the seatbag. Lose it already. That bike is gorgeous. The bag is killing me.

Kind of like Jennifer Aniston wearing a lumberjack shirt. Wait, that sounds pretty hot. Never mind.

congrats on the ride's. On an unrelated note, drop the 987 about an inch. I did it with mine using Eibach springs and it really closed up the wheel gaps and made the handling even better.

Oh and by the way the Giant is smoking! Congrats!!!!
