sunglass lenses
I checked out the threads about Oakley Transition lenses and Specialized Adaptec lenses, and the jury seems to be split. Any other thoughts since those last posts a couple of months ago?
Also...has anyone tried the Tifosi Fototec lenses? They're a good deal less expensive (Around $60 compared with well over $100 for Specialized or Oakley). Do you really get what you pay for, or could these be as effective? Thoughts?
Thanks!!!

i prefer "cheeper" sunglasses b/c most glasses 1. brake and scratch easiely 2. i lose things all the time. I had a sweet pair for M Frames and i lost them and i was out $100 + now i just use the cheep performance brand glasses that were like $20 and i can't really tell the diffference so i isn't that big of a loss if something happens. Just my opinion

I have the Tifosi Fototec lenses (on a Pave frame). I think their lenses are very good for the price. They are clear and don't seem to distort. Their frames are where they seem to cut corners more. On mine a lot of the color has rubbed off and they feel a little more "bendy" than when I got them. That said, they still fit well. They just look a bit worn close up.
I haven't read the other threads, but I like the Fototec lenses. I don't notice the change when riding even though I know it is happening. The only case where they don't work well is in really bright light. They're just not dark enough for a mid-day summer ride under a cloudless sky. With the money you'll save, you can actually buy two pairs. One with the Fototec and one with the three lenses. That's what I did and I now have two frames and four lenses to choose from.
Their customer service is also pretty good, too.

I have the Specialized Helix with the Adaptalite lens. Bought them new off of Ebay for $40.00. Awesome glasses both in the bright sun and dusk. When of the better cycling accessories I have purchased.

The best I can tell that if you have blue eyes and are sensitive to the sun like me that they transition lenses will not get dark enough. If you are not aware, they do not work while driving because the windshield blocks ultraviolet. You have to get lenses that are also light sensitive for them to work in the car. I am still trying to decide myself.
