All Sport GPS
Has anyone tried the www.bicycling.com/ridemaps web site and the Trimble All Sport GPS software for cell-phone? If you have what do you think? What has your experience been?
Thanks!
Thanks!

In order to run All Sport GPS Gold with mapping and web connection on your GPS enabled cell phone you need data services as well as voice. Data services from Sprint for the RAZR cost $20/mo for example. Verizon will not work with All Sport GPS yet. Some phones can run All Sport GPS Silver which requires no data services but which then does not have downloading of maps or uploading of workout logs. Of course if you want other data-enabled services on your cell phone like email and web you will need to subscribe to the data service anyway. The other option, of course, is to use a mobile (hand-held or mounted) GPS that can download data to your PC and then to a web site. I have not decided which way I want to go.

I haven't tried it, but my Cingular plan comes up for renewal in April and I'll certainly look at one of these phones as I'm looking to switch off Cingular. I have a Garmin edge, so while this feature won't be a high priority for me, I welcome the competition. The Edge is really nice, but it's limited by the end user software. Motionbased, training center and sporttracks all do various things I like, but none of them are the end all be all of gps training software.
