thanks grahny - we posted at the same time. Guess I'm a day late and a dollar short. I thought the price was great for a full campy record bike, but maybe not?

My train of thought is 'how much can i sell the bike for without the group'... personally, I'm starting to think the hassle of ebaying a bike, sans group, that no one's heard of isn't going to go too well. You're basically buying a record group and they're throwing a bike in with it though... so maybe use the rest for spare parts then

Bottechia is not an unknown brand. They just haven't been imported into the US in quite some time. They still sell their own bikes in Europe. BD owns the rights to the name here in the US.

I want to know how a full record 2007 bike is supposed to be "Super-Light only 16.9 pounds"

But the $1095 Motobecane is advertised at 15.4 pounds with Ultegra 6600?

the wheels on the Le Champ are lighter. The Campy bike with lighter wheels would probably be a 15 to 16 pound bike. I bought one of the Le Champs and the weight was pretty close to as advertised and mine was a 58cm...

Actually, the frame is the same tube set as the Mercier AL, that is no longer on the BD site.
Also, notice the welds, cleaner than the MotoB (as are the Mercier. My wife has one).

Besides the Record gruppo, I don't really like any of the other components. If it came with AC420s, then that'd be a different story.

Bottecchia is a known brand in Europe, but as I recall the frames are totally different, and Bottecchia USA is just another Motobecane. I'm quite sure you won't be seeing this model on any Bottecchia-sponsored teams next season...

I didn't say they were the same bikes, nor did I imply it. Yes the Bottecchia USA frames are of Taiwan or Chinese origin, so are some of the Bottecchia Cicli (www.bottecchia.com) frames. They are different companies, but regardless, if you need a Campy group and some other parts to build out something else, then the BD Bottecchia is not a bad deal.

This time we can't blame the crappy graphics on BD. Bottecchia uses the same graphics.

What do you think a 2007 Bottechia Team Euro with a complete D/A group would fetch on Ebay? If I could get say $1200 back, might be tempting to do a complete grouppo swap.

Hehe... true. I guess if I were selling the frame off on ebay I'd be up front about what kind of Bottecchia it really is, and someone will still get a decent frame at a good price.

I think that would be a great deal at $1895 with a nicer wheelset... AC420, Ritchey WCS, one of the 1500g Easton/Velomax Vista series, or some mid range Fulcrum/Campagnolo set. Put the extra $200 entirely into the wholesale cost of better wheels.
