Montreal Dec 24 global warming ride
Hey, tomorrow it will be 3-4 degrees Celcius in Montreal with no snow on the ground, thanks to Global warming. This is pretty rare.
At this time of year, I usually forget the road bike and switch to cross country skiing. Not this year.
Been riding almost every weekend of November and December.
So I will go for what should be my last training ride tomorrow morning. Most likely a few laps around the Mont-Royal.
It will be the pre-Chistmas party ride. Will try to burn off enough calories to enjoy without guilt the food and the wine! Cheers.

Ah, a beautiful day in Montreal this Sunday - absorb enoughs rays to pull you through the snow expected this Tuesday! I'm not so well equipped with cool weather clothes, so I retired the road bike in October.
Last year wanted to try cross-country skiing with some friends, but scheduling and poor weather stopped that. Let's hope January brings us more "traditional" weather (but without the -20 Celsius days).

anyone who does Mt royal in december deserves to party and perhaps even throw up! You may as well try Westmount before the snow falls....

People are in disagreement as to why its getting worse so fast. I say, consider the skyrocketing population growth in countries south of the US border where beans are a staple in their diet.

The bike is now stored back in the basement. :-(
Got snow today. Enought to prevent road cycling, but not enough for cross country.
Will have to use the trainer for a while and keep going to the gym.
Hey bdc, you got to get to doing cross country this winter. It's one of the best sports to keep you in shape until the cycling season resumes.

Would really love to get one specifically adapted for winter riding (with disk brakes and all). Will have to start saving some money for that.

You do realize that global warming will snap us into a major Ice age if it continues the way its going? Meltwater from Greenland will dilute the salty water in the gulf stream, causing the circulation of warm water to stop, causing an ice age. And I am not being alarmist. This is what will happen.

Sure. No need to convince me that this is a serious problem in the long run. Now we have to do our part (cycle more and use less our cars) and get our governments to act. You guys in the US perhaps need to start by changing government first...

I spent 3 hours on the hills of Mount Royal cemetery and bombing the mountain road Sunday on my MTB and then got in a 4 hour ride out to St. Ann's on Monday morning on the Litespeed.
That may be it for the year. I'm in NDG too.

I'm not saying we shouldn't do things to keep down emissions but if you look at details of avtual temperatures over the last nearly 50 years (it is more precise for the last 43 years or so), you'll find absolutely no differences in variations.

Govt. officals "discovered" 10 illegally built coal fired plants in Mongolia. NO Pollution controls at all!! The power output is equal to 1/10th of the UK total production. While we are peeing on each others legs about global warming or coolling or normal climate change, the Chineese are doing nothing. Add this to the 4000 coal mine deaths in China last year and we in the US have our shorts in a twist about several mine accidents. The whole thing is a joke to make us feel bad about ourselves. Ride your bike and enjoy it but keep the global warming thing out.

Well, the anomaly is over. Minus 6 and snowing right now.
I'm off to the slopes for some downhill skiing this afternoon.

Put the Nokion's on this morning and off to the mountain to climb hills. I have to lower the seat so as it is easier to bail if I'm going down.

My hill climbing this afternoon was limited to using the ski lift...
Fun but less cardiovascular!
