Good rides in the Dallas area?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good rides in the Dallas area?

I was born in Dallas but currently reside in KC. I am going to Dallas tomorrow until the 30th to visit family before classes start up. Can anyone recomend some good areas for a ride? The weather is supposed to be beautiful while I am there. Also, if anyone knows of any during the week, are there ary BF group rides that will be going on or anyone who wants to hook for a ride?

Actually the weather currently SUCKS! Very very windy and pretty dang cold with that wind. However, my local club will be doing some rides thru the Holidays (right side of the page). Read the PBA Forums for more detail. The planned pace is a bit faster than I can do but some terrific folks to ride with. Knock yourself out!

PBA is a great group (see link above) that has regular rides which are all posted on their website. Richardson Bikemart also has weekly Saturday morning rides that you can check out at bikemart.com

I'm in Socal right now, but will be back in Dallas on Thrusday, so if you want to ride Sat shoot me a PM and I'm sure we can get a group together to ride anywhere and any time you're able to.

I would love to take you guys up on the ride offers, but unfortunately my only free days o ride outside will be thursday and friday. I will be driving all day tuesday, family xmas on wednesday, and leaving on saturday to come back to KC. Are there any particular areas you guys recomend? Also, I hear Dallas has some great shops...I would love some suggestions there as well!

Google Mesquite, TX -- can't remember the club name, but they have some of the more scenic cycling. RBM has lots of rides but is in the city, more traffic and crap.

Best shop in town is Richardson Bikemart (https://bikemart.com for directions). They've got 3 locations, but the Richardson location is the original and the biggest. I live a stones throw from the shop, but will be working till about 4:30 on Friday.

Plano Cycling is another good shop. They carry a few different brands than RBM (Cannondale for one, I believe Fuji as well). I've only visited Plano Cycling a couple times since RBM is so close to my apartment.
