Blackburn Delphi 6.0
Anyone?
Seems to do just about everything I want a computer to do. Good alternatives with same functions?

Thanx for the tip. Amazon had it for a bit less. Anyone even know someone using this thing?

I picked one up earlier this month to use on my Pedal Force RS build, so I haven't used it as of yet, but I am impressed with the apparent quality now that I have it in hand. However, I got a smoking good deal at Amazon on December 11th.

amazon 134.99
sage cycles 149.99 x 85% = 127.50
I have a Specialized turbo which is very similar in design

So any reviews? Looks like everyone is going with the Garmin or Polar altimeter alternative. Couldn't find many going with VDO solution.

Just picked up one as well for my RS build... Seems well made, nice manual and functions are easy to use.
Haven't tested it on the road, and won't until march.

Blackburn makes a quality product, but more importantly, they stand behind it. They replaced a 6-year-old pump when the seals failed for me not long ago... "Lifetime warranty" actually means exactly that.
The feature set of the Delphi is nice. I'd be tempted to give it a shot...

I went ahead and bought one. The only complaint I have is you have to put the computer in a certain mode before you can clear your data for the next ride. Otherwise, thumbs up on this. Now if they could only add the ability to download the data to a PC. But I guess that's a bit too much to ask for.

I picked one of these up in December for my Pedal Force build, and have looked at quite closely. I can't envision any way that this computer can be stem mounted. That being said, I am going to mount mine via the FSA Control Center which will place it in line with the stem.

I've got a Delphi 3.0, and it performs all its functions correctly, but there's a design problem with the mount. When I ride in foggy conditions(haven't ridden in the rain, but I suspect the results would be similar), moisture gets in the front of the mount and shorts out the contacts, which gives all kinds of strange readings(I was momentarily impressed with myself when it told me my cadence was 250!). It works fine again as soon as you pull the computer off the mount and dry the contacts. I emailed Blackburn about it 3 times and got a reply to the first one, which I sent about 3 weeks ago, last Friday.
In the meantime, I came up with a "ghetto fix" using a wide rubber band like the ones you find on broccoli stalks in the supermarket wrapped around the gap between the computer and the mount. The funny thing is, it looks to me like the mount would be relatively impervious to this problem if it were flipped 180 degrees--wonder if there was a misstep somewhere in CAD land during the design process?
And, no, it won't stem mount.

I have the Delphi 6, I love it. You really get a lot of info on one screen: speed, heart rate, running time, cadence. You can change two of those. It's a good alternative for those who don't want to shell out the money for the 305.

Funny this popped back up. I ended up getting one for about $115. Looks to be a great unit for the money. It is NOT stem mountable. Still getting a feel for the controls, but so far, I'll say my Vetta and Cateye wireless jobs are a bit more user friendly. The back light function is unique--it illuminates the characters not the screen. Pity I likely won't road test it for another month.

I came real close to getting the Delphi 6, but ended up springing the extra cash for the Garmin 305. Same feature set, but wireless and downloadable features were worth the extra cost to me.
There's supposedly another Blackburn series of computers called the Neuro which are wireless, but so far I've only seen press releases so I concluded it was vaporware.

OK- here is today's dumb question - if it is not STEM MOUNTABLE - where do you mount it?
I am buying my first road bike (don't have it in hand yet) and it has center pull brakes.
Can I use Delphi 6.0 with this type of setup?

I've got the 4.0 as well. It feels very solid and well built. The wired cadence pickup uses a thick wire that looks like it could go through hell and back. The buttons feel very nice too. This thing is a huge step up from my old Vetta.

I really like my Delphi 6.0, took me a little while to figure out how to reset the 20-lap counter but that's bout it. Anyways on to the point of my post. I believe the Delphi 6.0 is stem mountable. The reasoning behind my statement is that I work in a shop and just ordered a "Delphi 4/5/6 Stem Cadence Mount" for my bike. Unless there was some type of screw up in terms of our supplier you should be able to get one. Oh and another side note, I e-mailed Blackburn about the Neuro series a couple months ago, they have no plans of releasing it in the future (so they say).

Since this is back from the dead...
I've got several hundred miles on the 6.0 now (using only the wireless non-cadence mount). Seems you pick (both are in the box) wired cadence or wireless without. In the screen you pick either cadence or HR to be displayed. I chose HR. I've seen no evidence of a stem mount anywhere, but the supplied mount fits my OS wing bars just fine. I think it'll mount up to damn near any bar. Most secure mount I've ever seen. The HR feature is NOT coded. I've had some interference and learned to disregard the max readings. The Altimeter seems to be accurate and has a home setting to keep it that way. The % grade function is a wee bit conservative when climbing (or so I think when gasping for air).
Overall I think it's a good unit and I'd buy it again.
