NH ride in January at 70F!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

NH ride in January at 70F!

Just finished my 2hr scenic ride in the 70 degree weather in NH, I'm not for the whole global warming thing but I've gotta say I'm sure not minding it at the moment If someone had told me that I'd be riding in January in 70F weather I'd think they were nuts, go figure! Anyways, hope everyone else got out for their rides today.

Got mine, although today I decided to go on my first singletrack ride in a long time instead of doing a road ride.

I did 8 sloggy, muddy, sloppy miles, but it felt like 50. My bike and I were covered in mud, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I'll have to do that more often.

70 here as well, nice ride through Westford and Chelmsford this afternoon, some wet roads the only weak complaint. I rode the same route last Saturday with a North Face Benie under my helmet, booties and several layers on my torso, what a difference a week makes. See you guys out there Sunday before the Pat's game.

That looks like Seabrook break.
Nice lineup - offshore winds, waist high peaks, no crowds.

don't get it. it was warm, but not as warm as you yokels up north got, it was "only" in the low 60s in southern CT.

i went out in short sleeves and legwarmers. didn't think to pack knee warmers for a trip to NY/New England over x-mas/new years.

Makes the post I was going to make bragging of my 70F ride today kinda pointless...
I did get to ride my buddy's too-small-for-me new '06 Giant TCR C2 for a bit though - nice to see how the other half live.

Did you ride your new wheels? Those bladed spokes make riding in crosswinds difficult at times.

It was low 60's for the high here in Houston, and cloudy. I had to wear a jacket! Something's wrong with this picture...

Mid-60's here in PA today, too - I've been riding all winter, but this was a treat. Shorts without tights or legwarmers, short sleeved jersey with a light UA layer underneath, no booties - for the first couple of miles I felt like I was forgetting something. I even got my summer tan lines started. The best part was the group that came out to ride - my pals who don't like riding in the cold came back out of hibernation. Great to be out with everyone.

The only downside was the wind heading home - 27 -30 mph gusts. 50 miles in that felt like 100. Good to have a dozen riders in the group to fight the fight, though.

Enjoy, Nor'easters!

Beth

yes, very difficult!
it's a challenge to keep my bike upright, but it was a bit more windy then the usual.
I still love the new wheels! but Im learning that the front wheel is hard to keep control of on very windy days..
Ill just have to ride somewhere else then the coast next time!
