Applying bar tape...
Does anyone have any suggestions about bar tape, I'm adding drop bars to my commuter, and I may need some instruction on how to apply the bar tape properly, and what type is best. Are there any web sites around that have instructions for such?
Thanks
Thanks

…and when you've learned all about it from the Park Tool site (paying particular attention to applying electrical-tape reversed), check out this one…

I strongly suggest getting some Shimano bar tape. It does have adhesive on back but it doesn't rip the tape when you have to unwrap it. I have unwrapped and re-wrapped many, many times and it is still perfect. The feel is very good. I have gone through rain (soaked) and shine with them. I have them on Bontrager carbon handlebar and I don't wear gloves.

Neat trick on the harlequin wrap, but do you have a source on Cateye tape? I can only find black.
Same question on the Shimano tape - can't locate any.

I put on bar tape recently printing out the park tool directions helped immensely. I wrapped the standard way, and did not do any of the advanced techniques.
Couple of pointers about tape. Deda tape is (and most synthetic tapes should be) good and strong, and even though it has adhesive, even 2 weeks later I was able to take it off easily and re-wrap it, and the adhesive still did a good job and the tape didn't tear anything.
Cork bar tape with adhesive is a different story. It will tear if you try to unwrap a portion where the adhesive wrapped over itself onto the cork.
So you need to be a lot more careful putting adhesive cork tape on than non-cork, like the Deda. But, oh, how I love the feel of cork! I double-wrapped my bars with Deda on the bottom and put the cork on top of the Deda and it feels luxhe--rious.
