To cover your bases I'd go with Record shifter and FD, Force RD, DA brakes, and either Force or Record cranks. It may not shift right but at least you'll satisfy everyone on BF.
If money is no object then Record is the only way to go. It's 8 ounces lighter than DA. Force and DA are more closely compared to Chorus than Record, on all points of your criteria.

I'll bet your active participation in movie review forums, vintage audiophile forums and choir/symphony forums helped considerably.

I'm another mutt advocate.
Force brifters, Force FD and RD.
FSA Compact crank
Zero Gravity brakes
Other bikes are pure DA

Will you have more than one bike set up with road components? Do you have one now? My questioning has to do with the easy of swapping some parts from one bike to another in a pintch or as needed. Sure, mixing 10 and 9 or 8 speed does not really work, but there are enough possible swap overs.

The Ultra Torque Campy in Compact rules in either Chorus or Record. The weight between these two is insignificant. Save your $450 and get some other stuff.

Double tap FTW!!
I have SRAM shifters on both of my bikes. Force on one and Rival on the other. I love them. They are more comfortable to me than Shimano and I like the way the double tap works.

Recently Tested all three
Wound up w/ D/A, Ultegra, FSA mix. For me, that the most significant factor was the fit and function of the levers. Have you tried shifting on each? Focus on the fit of your hand on the hood and levers. Do you have to adjust your hands too much?
Good luck. After a while, I'm sure you'll get used to whatever top grouppo you choose.

Sorry if I'm dredging up an "old" thread, but I was curious if a setup like this would work...
SRAM Rival:
-RD
-Brifters
-Brake Calipers
-Cassette
--------------------------------------
Campagnolo Chorus/Record:
-Record FD
-Chorus Ultra-Torque Carbon Cranks OR FSA Gossamer MegaExo with TT Chainrings
Are there any forseeable problems?

What is so special about Record and Dura Ace other than BLING. Chorus and Ultegra work just as well and cost a lot less. The high end groups have, at best, a few ounces of weight advantage. Most riders couldn't tell the difference.

A Range Rover and a Chevy Tahoe may be a few pounds different in weight, both have hauling capacity, and most kids couldn't care any less sitting in the rear seat.
But wordly souls would still get the Range Rover. Others will get the Tahoe and thumb their noses at the Rover. Chevy sells more tahoes, but select few drive the Rover and swear by them.
Sem ting wit de Campee or de Sheemano or ze Shiram.

Anyway, can someone please post whether or not SRAM brake/shift levers will work with Campagnolo brake calipers or FD's? Someone mentioned something about the pull ratio of DA being 2:1, SRAM being 1:1 but was unsure of Campagnolo's...?

Seriously consider Rival instead of Force. There's really pretty little weight difference, and HUGE $ difference between the two. Rival has the look of a great pricepoint/weight combination.
