07 Grand Prix
My apologies if this is not an acceptable thread, but I am new to this forum and to road cycling as a sport. I have been searching for a few weeks now and I have been reading as much as possible to enlighten myself. I have come across the 07 Raleigh Grand prix and was wondering if anyone has ridden one. My LBS's are barren this time of year and are not expecting any new deliveries until early spring. I haven't had a chance to run over to my LBS to check on a price either, since we are having somewhat of a blizzard. The Raleigh site has them posted between 700-1100, but I would like to have a narrower price point. I would greatly appreciate any advice you folks could provide me, thank you.

I just bought an 06 GrandPrix about three weeks ago I paid $740. I like it. The components are good and I believe the 07 has 105/Ultegra-double set up, whereas the 06 has 105/Tiagra-triple. If you are anything like me you have already discovered that for entry level riders the frame matters little as compared to the components, afterall that is why you are looking at Raleigh. HOWEVER, fit is a big deal. Test out a few frames in your price range and look for the frames that fit you best (Lemond Reno is good for riders with longer reach, but a slightly less aggressive geometry, the Specialized Allez is more aggressive and more compact, etc...).
The hunt is fun...enjoy learning a lot about bicycles and all their parts. It makes owning one so much more fun.
The 07 will be more than the 06, because of the components. Call around and see what the 06 is going for...you, like me, can't YET tell the diff between Ultegra and 105 and Tiagra...so, the diff is $$$$ vs $$$.
Good luck.
