Hammer Nutrition Appestat...any good ?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hammer Nutrition Appestat...any good ?

Hi All,

Got a flyer in the mail from Hammer Nutrition yesterday just on a new product of theirs; Appestat.

https://www.e-caps.com/za/ECP?PAGE=PR...%20Homebanners

Anybody have any experience with it ?

Here's a quote from their site:

The sensible, healthy approach to weight loss.

BENEFITS
Help suppress appetite without stimulants
Help increase rate of fat metabolism
Help reduce potential for carbohydrate-to-fat conversion

Extra Benefits: 5-HTP not only has benefits for appetite suppression, it is also believed to be an ideal nutrient for improving mood.

I miss the days of ephedra.....

I bought some a while back and didn't really start using it regularly... Tried it for a couple days and it certainly didn't have any ill effects... whether it helps anything I have no idea. Maybe I'll try actually using it with some regularity and see what happens. Thanks for reminding me!

All of those ingredients in there are totaly bogus except for zinc and 5-htp. Most athletes are deficient in zinc and this causes sleep issues, which can lead to weight gain. However, to get the benefit from the zinc, you have to have magnesium as well. Most zinc supps also have magnesium, and it's cheap - I buy a ZMA supp for about 8 bucks a bottle and it helps my sleep quite a bit.

5-htp is the real deal for mood enhancement. When I take it (I cycle it in and out every few months) I notice a dramatic improvement, which carries over into my training.

The rest of that formula is a joke. Everyboody knows chromium has been proven useless for weightloss, and that "HCA" is a form of citric acid. Straight vitamin C has been shown to assist in a small way in fat loss, but not via the methods they describe.

So feel free to buy it, but if you could find a 5-htp supp and a ZMA, you'd be much better off.

Well the main ingredients seem to be:

From their website:

5-HYDROXYTRYPTOPHAN (5-HTP), is a plant-based precursor of serotonin. In addition to potentially enhancing the quality of sleep and growth hormone release, 5-HTP aids in reducing sugar cravings.

Here are some links to some articles on 5-HTP:

HYDROXYCITRIC ACID (HCA) may just be one of Nature's most remarkable weight loss nutrients. This active ingredient of the Garcinia Cambogia fruit safely inhibits an enzyme called citrate lyase, which is used in the conversion of carbohydrates into fat. It also gently suppresses appetite and reduces food intake.
