Stupid DC weather...
Well, that was annoying.
I get ready to take a study break (American Board of Surgery In-Training Exam this Saturday), and the sun is shining through my window. 35 degrees, not too windy. I get all dressed and head out.
2 minutes to go in my warmup and the sky turns dark, the wind kicks up, and it starts snowing pretty hard. I catch a good, strong crosswind that steers my bike into traffic and decide it's time to turn around. That, and the average IQ on the roads of metro DC drops by 30-40 points as soon as any form of precipitation falls from the sky.
I get home, and the snow stops, and the sun comes back out. The wind is still pretty impressive, so I guess I'll relegate myself to the trainer. The roads now have that nice thin layer of melted snow, and the temp is almost back to freezing. Oh well...

I just finished 2 hours on the rollers. On my patio. I got the sun, then the snow, then the wind, then the sun, then the snow, then the sun, then more wind.
Good news is Saturday and Sunday are looking like good weather days! (jeez, who ever would have thought that I - coming from Texas and California - would consider 40 degrees "good weather"!)

Yeah I'll be there - Lorelei and her bridesmaids are going dress shopping so I've got the whole day to myself.

Engaged. Are you going to suggest a singles bar? Because I've shopped around and I know I got the best bang for the buck on the market (all puns intended).

i've never met you in person - but anyone who could ride rollers for 2 hours must have some issues.

A little of all three. I'm taking a "sick day" from work today, she has class, and I was bored, so I hopped on the rollers.
1) She's very understanding in that there's bike **** all over the very small apartment and she supports me all the way.
2) She's the perfect match because of (1).
3) I have issues because I ride rollers when I'm bored.

11 am, saturday, january 27th
meet at the francis scott key park
just across the key bridge (a.k.a. the car strangled spanner) from rosslyn
riding out to the old dominion brewery, taking the tour at 2, riding back. slow pace (perhaps painfully slow for you all) but good folks. if not i might see you all at the cap hill ride on sunday. cheers!

dirtyphotons--Is this an every saturday thing? I can't make it this week b/c of the exam I'm studying for, but I'd like to join you. From the little I've ridden NoVA is a fun place to ride.
Hope to see you on the CHB shop ride--good times, good people.
As far as the weather--I felt some roughness in my front hub so I just took it apart, cleaned, and re-greased it. As I was doing that, another good dump of snow came down, and now there's some actual accumulation.
Guess the trainer was meant to be today.

All I got to do today is watch the guys FINALLY fix my roof in the snow (from the tree that fell on the house over the holidays). While I was watching that my wife calls to tell me about the deer she hit on the way home. People fine, car a bit crunched.
My insurance is really hating me this year.
Rollers tonight. I wish I could even do an hour. I gotta long way to go to be in shape.

But just think--if you drop your chain now you can tell everyone how many watts you were cranking out when you did it.
