Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

PI Wool jersey, anyone use it?

It's the Pearl Izumi Thermawool jersey, long sleeve and a bit retro-ish.

Just wanted any reactions/thoughts. There's a place right near me that is closing them out for around $65. Thought it might be a good addition for early spring/mid-to-late fall riding.

No first hand experience, but my sister has the women's version and she loves it.

my experience is that you need a size larger than you normally wear

I love my retro l/s wool jersey (not PI, but I've never been disappointed by anything PI). For me, wool is a bit of a 'tweener. As you mention, it is perfect for the "chilly" days.

Since I can go and try it on before buying, the sizing is no problem.

Also, since they are being marked down from 90 to 65ish it seems like a much more interesting proposition. Wool is a great material, but if it weren't for the lining in this one I wouldn't go near it. I can't deal with having it right on my skin, especially when doing something sweaty.

The newer 100% Merino wool jerseys are pretty soft and not like the older wool/acrylic style.. If the jerseys are 100% Merino they usually have a fair amount of stretch..

I got one of these at Christmas time and I really like it. The sizing is definitely a little tighter, but it has kept me plenty warm. Also, it has come out of the wash without any problems.

Way late with the reply, but this jersey is only 50% wool. I saw one in person and was very unimpressed with the material. All of my tops are 100% merino and the PI jersey felt very stiff and scratchy by comparison.
