Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Disclaimer:My shop uses one of these.
We replaced our New England Fit Kit (1988?) with one of these. Body Scanning does a good job determining saddle height, for-aft positioning, saddle to handlebar reach. It does not give a very accurate frame size IMO, but a knowledgeable salesperson should know how to apply the numbers to the correct size bike. It is more "retail friendly" than the fit kit, quick with minimal touching. In that regard it helps us to give our rec and family type customers a good fit without feeling like they just visited the tailor. If a customer comes in wanting to order a frameset that we don't stock I'll still pull out the fit kit which gives better frame numbers.

I had a fitting done with one of those. The guy doing the fitting had a lot of experience using different systems. I got the sense he was using the Scanning device mostly to just get measurements, as oppossed to a mechanical application of the system.

My g/f who is getting a road bike just got measured with the Body Scanning CRM. They did one for me for free, as well. I went home and measured my current road bike setup and it was dead on.
