We tried them on our bikes and were not impressed. That's why we don't sell them anymore.
FWIW, we are in utter agreement here that the Conti GP 4000s are currently the bee's knees. Best mix of durability, suppleness, and puncture resistance, in our opinion, that the industry currently offers.
I do look forward to seeing how these work for you...

I used the avocets for a while and the riding characteristics were excellent.
I gave up on them because they were too delicate as far as puncture resistance goes (admittedly, I used the non-puncture resistant ones, but still). Also, I found the foldable kind too be too easy to take on and off the rim and that made me nervous about tire mishaps on corners and downhills.

I think of the Avocets as being the anti-OCP tire.
I'd like to get a set of their 32mm "Duro Plus" - I think that's the only true slick fatty.
Avocets are all about the carbon black - no silica. Jobst Brandt, who worked for Avocet (consulting?), and posted/posts a bunch on rec.bicycles, is a huge fan of slicks with carbon black, rather than modern (usually colored) silica-based tires or treaded tires.

I'm a big fan of Conti 4000's, and Vittoria's higher rung racing tires. Though the durability on Vittorias is non existent.
