Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

which tires?

I'm taking the plunge into racing starting this weekend. I am still working on getting my bike where I want it.

I'm currently running these: (specialized all-condition pro)

When the road conditions improve around here I'm thinking of switching to slicks. Good idea or will it matter that much considering I don't have good racing wheels or high-end components anyway? (Currently using stock Shimano wheels).

The choices I'm considering for slicks Mondo pro or S-works, or Michelin ProRace2.

These would *look* better with my Gerolsteiner bike I think: (specialized's current idea of G-blue is royal)

Starting off easy with the racing thing. Hoping I don't destroy the bike.
