Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

OPUS Vivace

Hello all-
My LBS offer me a 2006 OPUS vivace bike with a pretty interresting discount (2800$ VS 4125$)
This is a new company (around 10 years) and I'm guessing if some of you have comments/feedback regarding this bike.

Here's a picture

The bike is well equipped (not exactly like the picture):
Full Carbon frame/fork
Full ultegra 10 spd
Mavic cosmic Elite
Saddle Italia SLR
Carbon handle bar

I weighted the bike, without pedal it weight 17.10 pounds.

For more info, here's the website.
https://www.opusbike.com/site2006.htm

You opinion is appreciate!
Thanks

Sorry it took so long to respond - I had to walk out to the garage to see the entire picture.

Nice looking bike - great color and build combo. Never heard of them however.

They are a Canadian importing company. You are essentially getting a Taiwanese carbon frame, and by the looks of it similar to the Pedal Force ZX3 or whatever. I don't think it's a great deal...

you beat me to it. yeah, that is the same frame as the ZX3 pedal force sells, w/ a Gigantex seatpost (as sold by Carbonlord on ebay and others) and a Gigantex fork.

could be had cheaper if you sourced out the components yourself.

Nice bike; but, I don't understand how one can post that photo as large as it is and I have a heckuva time posting a pic that is 100kb or less. I am the first to admit that I am not good on the photobucket, etc. Did I say that is a nice bike?

Are you talking about that frame?:

Kind of agree except for the rear section, not sure...
But I think you are right, if I compare the geometry of the vivace and the ZX3, it's the same.
You guys rocks!

Thanks for the feedback, the bike seems less interresting with that said...

Sorry for that, that explain probably why I'm still a «junior» member...
I don't know, I just use the insert image and I copy the link from the picture on the website.

Looking at the price and the OP's original picture made me think it was a great deal (mavic es + DA alone) but I guess you're not getting those parts

yeah, the rear stays might be a little different. thesame can besaid about the QS2 and Litespeed's Pavia. obviously the same frames w/ some minor differences in the "rear section".

price out the same build on Pedal Force's website. you might get close to building a ZX3 w/ full DA for close to the price of that Ultegra build (don't quote me on that though).

That's a good idea, I built a pedal force bike with more or less the same component and I ended with 2600$ (probably in US) so around 3000$ CAN.

I did an estimation for the fork, the seatpost and the handle bar because the choice were not the same.

Seatpost: FSA K-Force Lite Zero 350 x 31.6mm $106.46

Crankset: Shimano Ultegra 10, FC-6600 Crankset, 39-53T $162.04

Bottom Bracket: Shimano Ultegra 10, SM-FC6600 Bottom Bracket, English threaded, 68mm only available with crankset $0.00
Chain: Shimano Ultegra CN-6600 10 Speed Chain $18.28

i have to say though, the decals are MUCH more appealing than most of the competition (by competition i'm referring to the many other small companies that are selling this frame and the others coming out of this factory).

Benoit, if you are looking to replicate the bike 'exactly'. you can get the carbon bars, as well as that fork through cadencecycle.com. they are great to deal w/ as they do what they can to prevent us Canadians from getting hit w/ taxes and duites.

oh - and i've got one of those seatposts if you want it.

That seatpost is an anchor.

But the Ora Design carbon bars are very comfortable to ride with if a bit flexy.
