Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

which speedplay pedals do I have?

Alright, kind of new into riding road bikes, road mainly bmx growing up, just getting into this type of riding for my health and to get outside and see the scenery from a different angle.
Anyways, got a great deal on these speedplay pedals, but I can't tell much more about them. I got the pedals only, so I need to track down cleats and everything else for them. To me, they look like either X2's or X3's? I used a magnet and the spindle seems like it's steel. Are there any other identifying features to set these apart besides weight? Took a few pictures, let me know what you think.

thanks!!!

Can't you just ask the person who gave you the great deal?

To be honest with you, I was in NY for four days shooting some video, walked into a bike shop and they had these on the used shelf, I knew enough to know they were speedplay and they had a $45.00 tag on them, so I bought them and went on with my business. Now I'm back home on the other side of the country and next to impossible to remember the name of the shop. If I could ask them I probably wouldn't have posted this question.

pretty sure they're x2's

X1's (titanium) have black bodies

x5's have blue bodies.

There isn't X3 to my knowledge.

definitely not Zeroes or Light Actions (which are new anyway) - no grooves in the plastic faces

Great, that's what I figured. I might switch to a different pedal in the next couple of weeks, still not sure if I like them or not. Good deal, but not worth it if I can get something a little more comfortable.

thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
