Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mavic Aksiums vs. Campy Ventos

The newer lighter Ventos.
Would you consider the Ventos an upgrade?

I would. Not that Aksium's aren't good wheels - I just love the G3 spoke pattern (and it's quite sturdy, too).

for a little more you can get zondas and thats would be more of an upgrade. the ventos might be marginally better wheels than the aksiums, but unless your current wheels are trashed, i'm not sure it'd be worth the money. when you reach the zondas you get better (record) quality hubs.

Zondas are actually quite a bit more. Ventos can be had for around $200 on certain sites; Zondas go for around twice that (but damn, are they nice).

i guess the zondas are a bit more. campy doesn't make anything bad in my opinion though. scirroccos could be another choice....
