Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale T500

Is a Cannondale T500 a good decent performing bike that is worth $350?
performance of a Shimano 105, Tiagra or higher?

Is this worth it at all? need opinion, i am upgrading from a GMC Denali to this hopefully. I want something in the upper range of entry level. Is this the bike I should go for?

Bike is equipped with:

24 Speed

Shimano RSX derailleurs

Shimano RSX STI brake lever and shifters

Deore LX brakes

Mavic MA40 wheel laced with Dura Ace hubs

Maillard 8 speed cog

I could be mistaken, but I believe the "T" designation in the Cannondale model name signifies "Touring".

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

If the brifters work and the frame is in good order, it may be worth it. The Dura-Ace hubs aren't cheap on their own. I don't get the Mallard cogset, unless Mallard made Shimano compatible cassettes.

The "T" series Cannondales are touring models. It may not be a high performance bike, but a heavy duty piece that will take just about any abuse and will last a while.

Just a question how is the GMC Denali. I used to want it because it was so cheap. Is it any good.

When i first got my GMC Denali, it felt good. I was switching from a MTN Bike, so the difference was huge. I could feel as if the Denali was faster and smoother than my pervious MTN bike.

However after a week or two, you lose this feel. It was nearly impossible for me to keep up with my friend who had a Jamis equiped with the Sora grouping.

What other bike options can i get with this $350? I want the best bike that $350 will get, becuase this maybe my final road bike that i buy.
