new rider blues
Sad to say, I was only on my Klein mtn. bike once (1) last summer. I have been going to spin class trying to shed some pounds...i really enjoy being on the bike, but i HATE being in a gym...for one thing the view never changes. So, tax returns are in and i thought it would be a good time to trade in my 1994 Specialized Rockhopper turned townie bike and mount up on a road bike to commute to work, and hopefully longer weekend rides. What I learned a couple of years ago when I bought my Klein was that bike fit is the key. So after searching through the threads, blogs, reviews, trek, specialized, giant, jamis, fugi, etc.....it is all overwhelming and easy to just forget...drink beer...and drive the car! awe, just kidding. Seriously gonna give it a good college try and hopefully the new bike, whatever it may be, will be on the road and not easily become a house decoration.

Good on ya, thunk!
Be sure to visit a number of LBS's. And get a proper fit. Good luck! And welcome to BF!
And go post something more about yourself in the Intro forum, and then visit the Commuting forum. You might also visit your Regional Discussion forum, too, to see if you can find some advice on LBS's in your area.

You have to try to make biking fun instead of work, if you view it as work then your going to quickly stop riding. Also remember that riding your bike is good for you, so that when you become old and gray you'll still be riding and living an active life, while the rest of your old crooners are sitting in rocking chairs waiting to die.

Ya know, that is a great point...it has to be fun, not work. i have to remember how good it feels after a nice mtn. bike ride up in the hills. when i go to the gym for spinning, it just feels like work and i don't really want to be there. i am looking forward to the early morning ride to work, although not very long, it still will feel good, now i just have to figure out how to carry the coffee cup
