Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Multiple flats, a couple crashes, he fights back to the leading breakaway only to be outnumbered 4-1 by Domo riders who attack him constantly. Having to cover every single attack launched by Domo, George fights incessantly, never giving up. As they turn into the Roubaix velodrome, the writing is on the wall. No man can survive outnumbered 4-1, and Domo takes the 1-2-3 victory, with Hincapie coming in 4th. He put up one hell of a fight, but didn't have the team support that he needed.

He kicked my ass back in NYC when we were both Juniors. When I became a Cat 3 after Juniors, he was still underage and still a Jr. He would do some unsanctioned rides and kick everyone's ass. I don't love the guy but I'm so happy that he's still going and going and going and going.

Just in case you didn't get to see Stage 6, George rode the majority of the race with a broken wrist from an early crash. Discovery needed to catch the breakaway (or at least make up almost 2 minutes of the gap) in order for Levi to keep the yellow jersey. Many say George was the main factor in the Discovery team's success catching the break, as he took many strong pulls at the front. I watched the stage again after knowing he had a broken wrist, and it's amazing. He doesn't cut himself any slack...no favoring the wrist, no avoiding putting weight on it. He had surgery the next morning and is out for about 6 weeks.

If you were being facetious, I apologize.

By the way, I love Hincapie.
