Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tell me about your Look 585....

How do you like your Look 585? What other bikes did you look at? Likes/dislikes? Do you race?

Thanks.

dont have a 585... i bought the 555

i thought it ridiculous that the 585 was over $2000 more... to save what? like 15 grams.

didnt make much sense to me.

the 555 is a great bike. last year put over 8K miles on it and the bike was flawless for every meter of it. Look makes a great product whatever it is.

if you are looking for the 585... why dont you just get the 595 and be done with it?

I've had a 418sl 585 and now a 595... They are all fantastic bikes. If you like the ISP then get the 595 if you don't then get the 585. The new 555 is much different than the 585. Its more than just 15g wt. difference. Its shaped butted tubes VHM carbon etc. Im currently in the market to get a 555 as a backup to my 595 as a matter of fact...

cheers-
jim

Closer to a pound methinks.

Jim, I've asked you repeatedly to post pics of your stable....

I loooooooove my 585. I was riding a trek5200, 1999 vintage when i decided in fall of 05 i wanted something new. I had more or less settled on the look, when i became infected by reading this forum with cervelo itis and decided i wanted an r3, however i could not get one without a PROLONGED waiting period so i went back to the look. Have never regretted it. It rides like a dream, climbs like a scared cat-my riding buddies hate it- it is stiff for accelerating, but very comfortable, and it is drop dead sexy black. I recently had the occassion while on vacation to rent a cervelo R3, the ride is very similar, the cervelo may be a little softer ride, however i like the look of the look( no pun intended) better. Mine is paired with fsa k wing bars, look seat post, campy record components,(compact 10sp 50-34), and the wheels are fsa rd 600 which don't get a lot of play on this board but i have really liked them, now well into the 5000+mile and still very very true. Expensive? Absolutely, but if you are, as i was, looking for the ultimate once in a lifetime weight weenie bicycle, this is it.
