Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Serotta Update: Shimano R600 Compact

I've recently updated my Serotta from a standard Shimano 5600 (105) 52/39 double to a new Shimano R600 (105 level) 50/34 compact. The look and finish, as expected, mate well with the 105 stuff.

Oh, and I also fixed the end tape on the bars so it has a more finished look.

Looks good. I dig the quill stem, gives it a classic-yet-modern look.

Nice upgrade, hope you enjoy your compact crank. What model Serotta is that?

According to Serotta it's the closest model to the CSi before there was a CSi. It was built in '88 as a 7-11 replica and I bought it as such. The paint was in bad shape so I had Serotta repaint it and spread the rear end to accomodate 10 speed. There are a few threads on this bike around here somewhere...
