Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone have a soak before riding? I bought my wife a hot tub this Christmans and I was wondering if anyone warms up before a ride in a hot tub?

No hot tub for me, but I've become a huge fan of a little self-leg massage with some Freddy's Choice Warm-Up Xtra when it's cold out, and Start-Oil for warmer weather. Might all be placebo, but I swear it helps me warm up quicker, and doesn't dehydrate like a hot tub...

I wouldn't do it - 20 minutes in the tub generally makes me want to sleep.

It rocks, however, when you get that "I'm never going to be warm again" feeling after a cold ride.

+1

Also great after a hard ride with a box of Epsom salts poured in.

To me, the hot tub is AFTER the ride. Pretty soon it will be no hot tub at all, though, because I want to have children soon.

lol I've been reading up (actually, my wife reads and paraphrases to me), and any water temp over something like 95 is supposed to mutate the sperm. Now, ******** sperm doesn't always mean ******** children, but it causes other problems and defects. My saddle choice, food choice, etc. are all based on this info for a while.

I don't have the hot tub, but I really enjoy a nice, hot bath after a long, tough ride. I usually kick back and read one of my favorite cycling mags while I relax.

It's especially nice after a freezing cold ride, as mentioned above. +++1

The tub is nice after the ride to soak those muscles and prevent cramping. Works for me and eat a bannana as well.

I agree with the masses, do the hot tub after the ride. We got ours last year around this time and if there's time I do a post ride soak.

Sounds to me like your wifey just wants you to get your butt out of her hot tub

My understanding was that heating the boys up above a certain temperature decreased sperm counts temporarily, I hadn't heard about mutation!

Its always hot tub time.
I love to wake up and plop in half asleep and come out wide awake full of energy. Great way to start a day and/or ride.
Gets you warmed up and flexible me thinks.

Yes it's temporary, but as in a few days. So I can live it up now, but not when we get "busy". It's gonna be hard work, but I'll give it my best.

Too bad it's a community hot tub.

I think my wife pulled the same thing with the cat box. "You know I can't empty the litter box, the doctor says it's bad for me...."
