Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Assos F1.13 S2 bibs?

Just back from a ride in a brand new pair.

The compression, the chamois, oh... so comfy.

funny... Santa brought me my first good pair of bibs this year. I've always been an "on-sale"/$40-50 bib kind of guy.

I opened the my Christmas gift and saw a pair of Pearl Izumi bibs and thought to myself, "I don't know if I want to get to like these..."

Everything else was dirty so I wore them today for the first time. I think they made me faster, too.

DAMN!

Well considering you could buy a saddle and a seatpost for the price of a pair of shorts(or a bike!)...they aren't exactly a bargain. If you had a Brooks saddle you wouldn't need obnoxiously expensive shorts.

But you do save about 4 lbs of weight.

Good point! I did need an engine hoist to get my Brooks B72 onto my seat post. I just can't risk blowing out my back again.

I own one Assos product - a pair of heavy-weight bib tights. These tights are so warm that if it's over 45* you can't wear them. It's a great product but if you have to pay retail, they are way overpriced. If you shop and get year-old leftovers (like I do) than the hit is not so bad.

I never noticed that much difference in comfort as far as shorts are concerned so I can't get all worked up about high-end bib-shorts.

I've had the same Assos armwarmers for 6 years. Still love them. The shorts are otherworldly.

You may not ever be able to justify the price under the "get what you pay for" buy you get everything that you could want.

No, no. They accidently "fell off the back" when the Assos delivery truck was "left open". Botto simply "found them in the road" and decided to "wear them". It's all "perfectly legitimate".

I'm going to talk in air-quotes for the rest of the day.
