Fizik Aliante worth every penny

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fizik Aliante worth every penny

For those that have interest in this saddle, I would highly recomend it. As much as i liked the design and look of my Fizik Arione and rode it for a year it still never felt right.

I have only put about 150 miles on the Aliante but its the first and only saddle that I don't have to think about durring and after riding. I was shocked after my ride yesterday that I had nothing sore at all, 0, zilch.
As my 3 year old would say " prepare to be amazed", I am completely. The funny thing is, it doesn't look like anything special. Somthing to be said for keep it simple maybe.

I was a bit hesitant to drop that kind of money on a saddle ( went with the carbon w/ carbon rails) but for me, it was worth every penny.
Not to knock the Arione, I am guessing if I spent more time in the drops or on a tri bike, the Arione might be better for getting more positions.

+1 I am a new Aliante convert myself, and I find it to be the most comfortable saddle I have owned to date.

+1 Aliante. It isn't the lightest, but unlike every other saddle I've used, it remains comfortable all day. No up and out of the saddle to get the blood flow back.

It is the saddle that Competitive Cyclist usually recommends. If you look through their gallery, just about all the new bikes they sell have one.

I have put 3-4 rides on my new aliante and I must say its a very nice saddle. Yes its a bit expensive but hey my rear ends comfort level is definitely the most important thing to me on training rides and races.

I keep trying to find a reason not to buy one. Borrowing one on the Flyte right now, and looking to do a couple more long rides before dropping the serious coin on one.

Just ordered mine from Performance yesterday. After my 3 year old Specialized Avatar 155 left me with a sore on an 85 mile ride, I couldn't justify not upgrading. Can't wait for the postman to come Wednesday.

Maybe Ill troll Ebay for one. My Specialized experiment ended up costing me $60.00 + tax so I'm a little hesitant to pay retail for the next saddle.

Major savings to be had here. Not sure how long they'll last at this price though.

I neat thing about the 2007 Fizik saddles is the I.C.S. (Integrated Clip System), to which a Fizik Blink rear light can be added in lieu of the lights which much otherwise be strapped to your seatpost.

Yup. It looks like the ICS will accept either the Pa:k or the Blink, but not both at once.

you could also pick up a ti-rail, plastic shell Aliante for 50$ off of ebay.

i agree, they're surprisingly comfortable.

i spend plenty of time in the drops. the Aliante works just as well.

IMO the spiel about arione's having more options because it's longer is marketing. most of the length is the aesthetic bit in the back.

+1

I have put 1,100 on mine and find it comfortable. I have not ridden my other bike recently that has the Serfas Terrazo Select that I like very well. My new bike had the Aliante Sport and for some reason I kept it instead of switching. I am not sure if I like it better than the Terrazo, but it is a good saddle and I have no complaints. I would encourage anyone to look at both! I was just looking at Fizik's website and could not find the Sport model. Still making?

I dig mine. Ti railed Carbon model, off of ebay for a bit over $100... retail is a bit steep, but it's the first time I've been this happy with a saddle. We'll see how it holds up over 50-plus miles at a go, but in the meantime I've been very pleasantly surprised.

Another happy customer here...well, actually I didn't have a choice, my bike came with the OEM'd Aliante Sport. But much as I want to succumb to OCP Upgrade Fever, I can't find any reason to change to a different saddle. I simply do not notice it when I'm riding or after I've been riding. It disappears. I suppose if it ever wears out I'll replace it with one of the Carbon or Carbon& Ti Aliantes, save some weight. (LOL! I believe there's a 100g difference between the Sport & the CF version.)

I have a standard Aliante Ti and an Aliante Sport (from ebay) and like them both a lot, although the Sport seems a bit harder than the regular model. The Aliante is my 2nd favorite saddle after a Brooks B-17
