Pegoretti seatpost question

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pegoretti seatpost question

I just got a Pegoretti 8:30AM frameset. It takes a 31.0 seatpost. The only 31.0 seatpost I can find is a $190 Pinarello carbon from Competitive Cyclist. Are there any other options? Can I use a 30.9 which is more widely availible? I wouldn't hesitate to pinch a little if this frame were steel, but it is aluminum.

Arg, this frame is beautiful but also takes an Ital BB. Pain in the ass for modern components.

Thanks.

Call Competitive Cyclist and ask them how they solve the problem on the 8:30s they sell.

888-276-7130

I'm betting they use this: https://tinyurl.com/3bzgos

You can shim it, and it doesn't have to be an exact match. I needed a 28.0 seatpost (read: expensive) and had a spare 26.8 around, so I bought a 1.2mm shim - I think it was actually to adapt a 26.0 to a 27.2 or some other oddball combination - not mine, anyway. Still worked.

Check with excelsports.com. The sell USE adapters in various sizes. I have a Pegoretti
Duende. It requires a 29.4mm seat post. However Excel carries a 29.4 to 27.2 adapter,
which cost something like $10 - $12. If they carry an adapter in the size you need it
allows using a "standard" sized seat post.
