Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scott CR1 Team or Pro?

So, I've tried to do some research on the Scott CR1 line. I'm thinking about getting one, as the 2006 models are deeply discounted. I can't afford the SL, it's either the Team or Pro. So, the MSRP difference between the two is about $1100, and it seems like the differences are that the Pro has Ultegra and Ksyrium Equipes and the Team has 105 and Mavic Aksiums. Are the frames the same? Is the fork the same? I've searched a little and found people saying both yes and no.

Thanks!

For the 2006 line, the Team Issue and the SL are the same frame. Just look at the weight specs, if they are the same, then they are probably the same frames.

Both are the same 980 gram frame with the same full carbon cr1 fork, however, they have different paint schemes and different components, wheels, and saddle between the two. I'm a big fan of silver, the ksyrium's elite's and slr saddle, thus i'd go with the pro.

So if the frame is the same, your paying $1,100 for an upgrade from 105 to Ultegra and Aksiums to Equippes???

I'd keep the 105, buy a nice set of wheels and try to decide what to do with my other $6-$700?

That's kind of what I was thinking if the frames are the same, and it sounds like they are. I'll have to see which one is in my size though.
I'm not that much of a fan of Ksyrium Equipes anyway. At 1840 grams I'd probably end up replacing them eventually if I went with the CR1 Pro.

the team made my final list when i was recently bike shopping.

i LOVE the yellow on black look of the pro but i didn't want to pay for the ultegra group. one bike shop was willing to swap components between frames for me for a modest fee of $50.

Is there any updates from anyone here? It seems that there are three people looking into getting a Scott. I just sold my speedster s50, and decided to get a 2007 Scott cr1 team, and upgrade the wheels to elites, and potentially the drive train to campy. I had just ordered it, and is on its way, thus no pics yet, but soon, very soon!

Because she's so pretty, I shall post my old speedster.
