City Select and Mapsource question
ok, i have a garmin edge and before i purchased City Select for Mapsource, i just used www.mapitpronto.com to create routes to follow, which was fine, but i wanted a program to not be as "cluttered" with points because i have to click on the route every mile. The problem with that is that if the road bends, it tells me to turn...So i bought city select to get rid of this. So i installed City Select and everything and in Mapsource there is a "route tool" in the toolbar (it's the purple line with dots). I click on that and then click on the roads that i want and the line "snaps" to the road which is perfect and what i want! But the problem no is, when i transfer that route to my edge, all i see is the map. It doesn't tell me to turn ever! I guess what i am saying is there a way to make a route in Mapsource with City Select that will just tell me on my edge when i have to turn onto a different road?

You should read post 18 on this thread. https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycling/275792-designing-routes-downloading-gps.html, which will direct you to pretty detailed instructions on how to do it.
Assuming City Select is similar to the Mapsource that I use, it's a complex process to get from Mapsource to a route you can follow. After doing it a few times, however, it becomes pretty simple and takes only a minute to convert form a GDB file to a CRS that you can load onto the Edge.
In any event, it won't give you turn-by-turn directions where it actually names the streets, but you really don't need that. It gives you a "breadcrumb" trail that you can follow easily. Very easily.
