Just like starting over...
I'm now back to square one. I shipped off my Serotta yesterday and now I'm on the prowl. I want (not need) another road bike. I wistfully thought of my Riv Romulus the other day and was considering getting a Rambouillet and building it up racy. I'm also considering a return to titanium. What's a boy to do?

FWIW, my wife has had the same Cannondale RW400 that I bought her at the end of 2005. I think I may be headed back to the beginning and buy another Cannondale...

I say this out of deep respect and concern:
You need help. I would not worry too much about what you buy next, as it will likely be transitory.
Happy bike shopping, though. I suspect that you are addicted to the hunt.

Ok, next, let's hear the reasoning for selling each of those... might help guide suggestions for the 'next' bike.

1984 Schwinn Paramount - not enough time/money to do a proper restoration
2006 Rivendell Romulus - too heavy
1984 Trek 400 Series - singlespeed experiment that never came to fruition
1985 Trek 500 Series - donor bike that went to a worthy cause
2000 LeMond Alpe d'Huez - too big
2005 LeMond Etape - too blah
1979 Fuji Finest Mk. II - donor bike (see above)
2006 Cinelli Supercorsa - bad, bad paintjob
2005 Litespeed Firenze - fit not quite right
1988 Serotta CSi/7-11 replica - thinking of going back to titanium

Sounds like fit is your biggest issue. Find a really good fitter in your area - ask around from fellow riders that really love the way their bike fits them after going through this - and have them do a workup on you.

Buy any bike, take it in for a $2-300 professional fit. Ride it for life.

I am still upset about the paint job on the Serotta.
