Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Memphis Social Ride (lot's of pics)

Great day to ride in Memphis today. Low 80's lots of sun and lots of wind. One of our local clubs holds a 30 mile social ride on Sunday afternoons. Typically we ride slowly and just BS for the first half then hammer the way back. Today was no exception. On to the snapshots....

Heading into Memphis from the East through the Midtown area.

Our first stop at the famous Stax Recording studio where artists such as Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding,Wilson Pickett, Booker T. & the MG's, Rufus and Carla Thomas and many others recorded there biggest hits...

My obligatory bike shot

Silky O'Sullivans Irish Pub on the corner of Beale..

Beale Street

Heading South towards Mud Island

Passing the Duck

Rest stop on Mud Island

Riding on the East Bank of the Mississippi.

Almost home riding on a quiet tree lined city street

Your bike is hot. I rode down in Oxford today...

Looks like a fun ride. Great pics, too.

My wife surprised me with it last year. Fits nicely in the jersey pocket. I used to carry it a lot more but now only on the slow rides. You need to join us for one of our rides. Your only an hour away

I'd consider it, but you mentioned "hammer" (for the second half of social rides)... I never hammer. well... only during dog-assisted interval training. Do you have a website where you organize your rides?

I love the Camelback for a social ride. Also - if you can take a photo while riding, you just might be on a FRED ride. Awesome man. Keep up the good work.
